Who is Fumi Sasa?

Fumi's faceFumi Sasa, Director of Alexander Technique San Francisco, has twenty years of Alexander Technique experience. She has been certified by the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT), which requires a three-year teacher training course, composing 1600 hours of training.

She has taught at San Francisco Zen Center, American Conservatory Theater, Albuquerque Tango Club, and in Mendocino and San Francisco Tango Communities. She currently teaches at Academy of Art University's School of Motion Pictures & Television.

Her speciality is working with dancers, actors, musicians, professional athletes, and people with repetitive strain injuries. She is an Argentine Tango dancer.

Fumi discovered the Alexander Technique after she suffered from Sciatica, low back pain, TMJ syndrome and multiple dance related injuries.

She has extensive knowledge of neck-, back-, and knee-pain, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, arthritis, disc herniation, osteoporosis, asthma and other complex conditions, from working with Dr. Lisa Hosbien, a holistic physician in Sacramento, California.

Fumi is also a Certified Health Educator, and a Nutrition Counselor.

She was born in Japan and educated in U.S.  She speaks both Japanese and English natively.
